SHAN DAO JING SHE was established in 1993 under the compassionate guidance of Venerable Kai Shan and the support of devoted benefactors. Upholding the principle of propagating the Dharma and benefiting sentient beings, benefiting self and benefiting others, it promotes the compassion and wisdom of the Buddha and advances authentic Buddhist education. The Vihara practises the Buddha's teachings through Four Core Principles, Four Directions, and Four Ideals.

The initial good, middle good, and final good mentioned in the Lotus Sutra are not directly used as terms to divide the text, but rather represent the structural classification and progressive stages of practice summarised by lineage masters (especially the TianTai Sect) for the entire teaching of the sutra.
